Nestled in the historic village of Saranac Lake, the Saranac Lake Civic Center was built in the 1970’s and is home to a wide range of ice sports and events for the local community. In anticipation of the Games, the site is being upgraded to a state-of-the-art facility.

Maxcy Hall is the proud home of Potsdam Bears hockey. After undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2013, the arena now features a high-efficiency refrigeration and climate-control system.

The SUNY Canton ice arena at Roos House Athletic Center boasts a state-of-the-art refrigeration system to help provide a fresh ice surface, comfortable stadium seating for fans, and world-class locker room facilities. The arena is home to the SUNY Canton Kangaroos hockey teams.

The James B. Sheffield Olympic Skating Rink is an artificial, outdoor ice track used for speed skating. The arena hosted the speed skating events at both the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. The Oval is also the site where Eric Heiden won an unprecedented five individual Olympic gold medals at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games while also setting four Olympic records.

One of the most-recognizable competition venues from the 1980 Winter Olympics is the Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex—home to 90- and 120-meter ski jumps. The Jumping Complex serves as a training ground for ski jumpers and aerialists year-round.

Mt. Van Hoevenberg combines outdoor recreation with Lake Placid’s Olympic legacy. The sliding center boasts a world-class combined skeleton and bobsled track while the Nordic center offers 4km of World Championship rated trails and 50km of additional cross country skiing trails. Plus, the new Mountain Pass Lodge offers a restaurant, retail shopping, equipment rentals, and more.
