ALBANY, N.Y. – The Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games Winter is nine months away. Representatives from the FISU Games’ Organizing Committee, the NYS Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) and the North Country Chamber of Commerce traveled to Albany, N.Y., Monday, May 9, to provide New York State leadership an update on the progress being made towards the January 12-22, 2023 multi-winter sports and educational event.
“This was a great opportunity to meet one-on-one and I want to thank them for allowing us to take the time to present an update on the FISU World University Games, which are just 247 days away,” said Adirondack Sports Council Chief Executive Officer Ashley Walden. “I also want to thank them for their continued support of the north country region and the Games.”
The FISU World University Games is expected to bring together more than 2,500 collegiate-athletes and delegates from 600 universities and 50 nations to Lake Placid and New York State’s North Country region. The athletes, age 17-25, will compete in 12 sports and 85 events throughout Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Wilmington, North Creek, Canton and Potsdam.
