ESPN2 Airs Four Hours of Live Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games Coverage from North Creek, Wilmington and Lake Placid
LAKE PLACID, NY — If you can’t catch the excitement of the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games, live and in person, Wednesday, Jan. 18, be sure to tune into ESPN2 for four consecutive hours, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., of live event coverage.
ESPN, the Official Television and Digital Distributor of the Lake Placid 2023 FISU Games, will feature men’s and women’s slopestyle racing from Gore Mountain in North Creek, men’s giant slalom Alpine ski racing from Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington and men’s and women’s spring biathlon from Mt Van Hoevenberg from Lake Placid.
The FISU World University Games is the largest international winter multi-sport and educational event for collegiate-athletes ages 17-25. The Lake Placid 2023 FISU Games has brought together 1,443 athletes from more than 540 universities and 46 nations to Lake Placid and New York State’s North Country region to compete in 12 sports and 85 events.
Under the agreement, more than 20 hours of network coverage of the Lake Placid 2023 FISU Games is being featured on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. ESPN+, the industry-leading sports streaming service, is offering fans nearly 140 hours of coverage throughout the 11-day, Jan. 12-22, event.
On Sunday, Jan. 22, ESPN will broadcast live the men’s ice hockey gold medal game and closing ceremony, both being held in Lake Placid’s Olympic Center.
While this is the first time presenting the winter edition of the FISU World University Games, ESPN previously televised events during the FISU Summer Games in 2013 and 2015.
